In this month You’ve taught me so many lessons and shared with me so many secrets, but the greatest gift that You’ve given me was the faith to trust in You. Indeed I’m challenged every day as I journey through this season of change, but deep down in my heart I know that You are my everlasting Guide, the resting place of my faith is in You – it’s there, in the shadow of the Almighty, that I can forever abide. From my heart flows streams of gratitude and my soul sings a joyful song and the melody of Isaiah 58:14 is in my mind all day long: “The Lord will guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and strengthen your bones; you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water whose waters do not fail” (Isaiah 58:11 NKJV).
The winds of change is whistling louder every day, culminating to a confusion that wants to lead me astray. But then the wind of Your Holy Spirit creates a wave within, releasing a faith that re-aligns my focus on You again. In this season of continual change, You’ve taught me the momentousness of holding fast to Your Words, to stand strong in faith and to fight the flesh as I lock eyes with You. At times when worry impelled me to look to the right and to the left, You’ve gently guided my gaze to look straight at You, not noticing the waves, but to walk toward the One whose words I know is true.
“My ears You have opened”, as David wrote, to hear Your voice and to know Your will and You have shown me a glimpse of Your glory and I’ve seen a chapter of my story. (See Psalm 40:6; NKJV). When fear threatens my faith and all seems beyond the bounds of possibility, a prayer to You releases heaven in my heart and I’m stirred to believe, as I reminisce on the past, in the scripture of Ephesians 3:20: “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be the glory” (Ephesians 3:20; NKJV). I am gently reminded again that You are the Author and I am the story, and all You are asking of me is my obedience that will bring You the glory.
Holy Spirit help me to yield to Your will in every single way, to say “yes” no matter what time or day. If You are my Guide I don’t want a say, but I want to move at Your command and have the faith to stand when You want me to stay. Jesus, You’ve shown me that there is so much more to Your will, that once I find it, faith is the key to unlock it here on earth. By Your grace You’ve given me the golden understanding that it is mandatory for faith and action to be in perfect union if I desire to stand with You in complete communion. “Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead” (James 2:17; NKJV). If I keep on asking, seeking and knocking You will by no means withhold from me Your will, but thereafter it’s a process of walking and being still.
Once you’ve revealed to me the steps I need to take, it’s a sin if I don’t and I know my future is at stake. So Jesus, I ask that You will keep on guiding me through the valley of change and lead me to the mountain of glory as I give You the pen to author my story. In less than a week You’ve broken the barriers of my comfort zone where I can no longer hide and You’ve brought me to place of courage and determination where I can forever reside. Holy Spirit, empower me with boldness to walk in You way, to trust that beyond the fog and haze there is a horizon of heaven that is nearing day by day. Incline my ears to the gentle roar of Your voice; permit me to feel the tender touch of Your hand as You guide me into the Promised Land.
Jesus, may my life herald Your name all of my days, let all that I do sing of Your wonderful ways. Father, I daily surrender to all You are and all You want for me, enlighten my eyes and give me vision to see. Jesus, “help my unbelief” as the man in the epistle of Mark and give me the faith to walk despite the frightening fog (see Mark 9:24; NKJV). I choose to lift up my feet as I lift up my eyes to the One who is the everlasting Help in troubling times. I’m settled on walking in Your will even when I cannot see the light, because the faith You give me becomes my perfect sight.
Jesus, right now I come to You in faith, for it is written in Your Word: “And whatever things You ask in prayer, believing, you will receive” (Matthew 21:22; NKJV). Today my heart is filled with Your compassion for those who are weary and burdened, for those that lack wisdom and those who are tired of trying, for the lost ones that ran from home and are now in hiding. Father I ask that You will satisfy their soul in drought and strengthen their bones as You are strengthening mine, that You will make them a well-watered garden whose waters never fail (see Isaiah 58:11; NKJV). Let them joyously draw from the wells of salvation and be refreshed with the wind of the Holy Spirit as You give them new revelation (see Isaiah 12:3; NKJV). Jesus, draw the lost ones with Your Holy Spirit and Your perfect love, heal and gladden also the broken and contrite in heart. Reveal to them Your will as they ask, seek and knock and empower them with boldness to walk as they stand on the Everlasting Rock. Give them faith to see and ears to hear what Your Holy Spirit wants to say, but most of all prepare for them a place in Your presence where they can forever stay. Lord, give clarity to those at crossroads and lift their heavy burdens, break off the bondage and break off the yoke as You release Your anointing and fill them with expectancy and hope. Let Your Holy Spirit reign in them as they yield to You and let go of their flesh. Be their Guide and be their Shepherd as they lift their eyes to You, fill their souls with a smile to stand on Your Word and the knowledge to know that it’s all that will always be true.
